The love of God is not an easy topic to understand. This is because our culture has so trivialized the concept of love, and then attributed this watered down concept to God’s love. Sadly even many Christians today do not really see how great, full and deep God’s love is towards them. As a result they quickly run for satisfaction away from God Himself, towards the blessings He gives us – family, houses, jobs, food, recreation, education, sports, music, and friendships. When these blessings take God’s place, when they become idols, they always lead to tragic results. But if we can understand God’s love for us, what it is in all its richness and depth, these things of earth loose their ability to overrun the throne of our hearts.
